Indelftnesia has been an annual cultural event held by Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di Delft (PPI Delft), or Indonesian Students Association in Delft. This year, the event which was held on 25th of February 2017 at Culture Center, Delft University of Technology, raised a theme of “A Dream Adventure”. This theme embodies our mission to introduce the beauty of Indonesia, the biggest archipelago in the world, through its diversity of culture to the global community. We bring the audience into an adventure from the most western part of Indonesia, Nangroe Aceh Darussalam to the eastern end of this country, West Papua while visiting the islands between the two, such as Java and Bali.
The event, which was divided into two main events: afternoon and night, and one side stage, attracted more than 600 visitors from various nationality. The main events featured five dance performances by the members of PPI Delft: Nangroe Aceh Darussalam’s complicated group dance Saman; the capital city’s cheerful dance Nandak; Central Java’s delicacy Topeng; Bali’s supple movement Janger; and the energic Sajojo from West Papua. We also presented performances from cultural organizations across The Netherlands, such as Pencak Silat group with their swift martial art performance; Nusantara Students Ensemble with their amicable strings and piano; and Angklung Wageningen who played a bamboo-made musical instrument in harmony.
The side stage was not less amazing than the main events. The performers could light the floor on fire as the visitors sang along their favorite songs. While enjoying the music, they could choose various Indonesian delicacy such as the foamy fish-cake Pempek from Palembang; a bowl of warm and tasty meatball bakso, or the famous Rendang beef which its tenderness melt in your mouth.
This event would not be there if not supported by our Embassy of Republic Indonesia in The Netherlands and the Sports & Culture Delft University of Technology. We are pleased to be able to accompany you into our Dream Adventure this year. See you next year in a more glorious cultural boom!
